GCL New Energy Holdings has guided plans to build 2GW of PV power plant projects in China in 2015, increasing by 500MW per annum to reach planned installations of 3GW in 2017.
The majority of its updated PV pipeline remains utility-scale with an undisclosed emphasis on distributed generation (DG) through the next three year period.

The company highlighted that it had 541MW of new utility-scale solar farms currently under construction, which included; 150MW in Shaanxi, 130MW in Ningxia, 81MW in Inner Mongolia, 50MW in Hebei, 50MW in Hainan, 50MW in Qinghai and 30MW in Xinjiang. The company had already grid connected 52MW in January, 2015.
GCL also noted that its subsidiary, Suzhou GCL-Poly had entered into O&M agreements totalling 353MW.
GCL guided annual additional grid-connected capacity to reach 2GW in 2015, with total accumulated capacity of 2.6GW by the end of the year.
In 2016, GCL expects new grid connections of 2.5GW, increasing by a further 500MW in 2017 to reach 3GW of new grid connections.
In respect to grid connected projects by the end of 2014, GCL noted it had 606MW of utility-scale solar farms and 61.5MW of DG projects connected, which included 567.5MW of jointly developed projects and 100MW of acquired projects.
The company also noted that it expected to expand the number of self-developed projects and said it had already established investment development companies in more than 20 provinces across China.
GCL has also been developing a new operational management system that includes big data analysis, design optimisation, centralised supply-chain control and automatic operational control system to maintain and improve the long-term operational efficiency of its PV power plants.
