Lightsource connects 227MW of UK PV in March

UK PV developer Lightsource Renewable Energy has revealed that it connected 26 solar farms across the UK in March alone.

The solar farms, totalling 227MW of capacity, had to be added to the grid before the renewable obligation certificate, the UK's subsidy programme for large-scale solar, dropped on 1 April.

The UK PV market is currently enjoying an unprecedented boom. According to market research firm NPD Solarbuzz, the UK and Japan were jointly responsible for a third of new capacity additions in what was a record-breaking first quarter in 2014.

Speaking to PV Tech's sister site, Solar Power Portal, Nick Boyle, CEO of Lightsource, describes his company's record-breaking month, including how Lightsource managed to connect 16 projects in one weekend by helicoptering technicians between individual sites:
