Independent Energy Solutions (IES) has installed a 936kW solar carport at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in southern California. The utility scale system, located at Pendleton's new Bachelor Enlisted Quarters, can generate around 1.3 million kWh of electricity annually.
Borrego Solar Systems has closed its latest investment fund to help finance and install a number of new PV projects across the US. East West Bank and US Bank are partnering Borrego on the fund, which will take the company’s solar PPA portfolio past the US$100 million mark.
Henan Sungen Solar Fab, a subsidiary of Anwell Technologies, has secured funding totalling more than US$100 million to help expand its thin-film production capacity in China. Financial backing came from the Municipal Government of An Yang City in Henan Province.
Solar-Konzept has started building work on its 28MW solar park in Giebelstadt, Germany. The project, located on the site of a former NATO airport, will be equipped with 120,000 REC modules, making it one of the largest in the whole of Bavaria.

Solaire Generation has unveiled its new Premium F2 solar carport at General Electric’s (GE) complex in Plainville, Connecticut. The electricity generated by the 98.7kW system will be used to power up to 13 vehicles and is GE's largest charging station of this kind in North America.
Munich Reinsurance America (Munich Re) has chosen SunPower to design and build its new 2.5MW solar power system in Plainsboro, New Jersey. Construction of the carport system will begin later this year and is scheduled to finish in the second half of 2012.
Tianwei New Energy (Yangzhou), a subsidiary of Baoding Tianwei Group, has signed a contract to supply an unnamed French distributor with 6MW of its polysilicon modules. The first shipment, comprising of 46kW TWY230P660, 295.16kW TWY235P660 and 470.64kW TWY240P660 modules, was delivered in mid-June.
Yingli Green has signed an agreement to supply modules for Etrion’s new 10MW solar project in southeast Italy. The site will feature two separate 5MW ground-mounted systems, located in Brindisi and Mesagne, which have a pencilled in completion date of late August.
