Chevron Energy Solutions has completed the installation of a 1.15MW PV system at Dinuba’s wastewater treatment plant. The ground-mounted array, which sits atop a capped landfill adjacent to the plant, is made up of 4,704 modules and is expected to help cut the city’s electrical utility consumption by 70%.
REC is supplying Advantec with 1MW of its PV modules for a portfolio of projects in Japan’s Ehime prefecture. Installation of the Peak Energy Series modules will begin in 2012 and marks REC’s entry into Japan’s utility solar sector.
India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has awarded PV project contracts worth 350MW to 28 developers in its latest National Solar Mission (NSM) auction. Projects in batch II of phase II were allotted by a reverse bidding process and have an initial completion deadline of March 2013.
OPDE has signed a module supply contract with Canadian Solar for its 8.8MW solar power plant in Ablitas, Spain. Installation of the CS6P-P series modules began last month and is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
JCM Capital has signed an agreement with Hay Solar Holdings ULC to provide development, construction and long-term equity financing for a 30MW portfolio in Ontario, Canada. The portfolio will be comprised of a series of 100kW solar installations at farms across the province.
Canadian Solar has supplied over one quarter of the modules for a recently completed 10MW solar project in Cavriglia, Italy. The system’s 40,000 modules – including 12,465 of Canadian Solar’s CS6P-P series – were installed by Coop Cellini Impianti Tecnologici and connected to the grid in October.
BrightSource Energy is adding molten salt storage capacity to three concentrating solar power (CSP) plants it is building for Southern California Edison (SCE). The additional capacity will also dispense with the need for one of the seven 200MW power stations BrightSource had agreed to build in the original contract.
Solar manufacturing giant Suntech Power has appointed Pawel Nowotny as the new head of its European marketing team. Nowotny will be based out of Suntech’s European headquarters in Schaffhausen, Switzerland and responsible for implementing the company’s long-term brand-building strategy across Europe.
Vertically integrated manufacturer ET Solar has supplied 2.56MW of its mono-crystalline modules for a PV project in France. ET Solar was project developer Classic Energy’s sole module supplier for the array, which was installed on an agricultural greenhouse rooftop in the southern French commune of Cruas. Tritec was contracted as system integrator and the project was grid connected last month.
