MEMC is to join forces with Flextronics to produce PV panels to be used by SunEdison on a range of forthcoming projects. The MEMC-branded panels will be manufactured at Flextronics' production facility in Newmarket, Ontario, with work scheduled to begin during Q2 2011.
IDC Energy Insights has launched three new global-research projects focused on quantifying and tracking the rapidly-growing Smart Meter, Photovoltaic Module, and Solar Inverter markets. To help man the new programmes, five analysts will be joining IDC's Worldwide Tracker team, which will be managed by Ryan Reith.
SunPower will build a 1MW solar power system on the roof of the Masdar Institute in Abu Dhabi. The roof installation is the latest addition to the Masdar City project and will see E19 solar panels mounted on a canopy structure, providing shade for the building's roof terrace and solar power for the facility.
SunPower has signed loan agreements worth €195.2 million to finance the final two phases of the Montalto di Castro solar park in Lazio, Italy. The solar bonds are expected to be funded by the end of December and will help add 44MW to the facility, which will have a final capacity of 72MW.

Opel Solar will build a 446kW solar power plant at the headquarters of Toray Plastics in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. Construction work on the facility, which will be made up of 1650 PV panels mounted on 50 of Opel's TF-800 trackers, is scheduled to begin in spring 2011 and when completed it is expected to generate around 625MWh of electricity every year.
Deutsche Bank is to finance two SkyPower solar parks, with a combined capacity of around 18.5MW, in Ontario, Canada. The 10MW Stone Mills and 8.5MW Thunder Bay facilities will generate 400 million kWh over 20 years and are scheduled to be completed by mid 2011.
China Sunergy and Pythagoras Solar have signed a five-year contract to develop, manufacture and market BIPV products in China. The agreement runs from 2010 until 2015 and will see Pythagoras Solar produce photovoltaic glass units and China Sunergy supply up to 75MW of solar concentrator cells as they attempt to capitalise on the growing demand for BIPV products.
Titan Tracker has held meetings with several Indian companies, with a view to securing licensing agreements to supply solar trackers for several utility-scale projects. After participating in last month's Delhi International Renewable Energy Conference, these meetings are a further signal of Titan's desire to play a key role in the Indian government's Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission.
