Construction has now begun on the Grimmen PV park, to be installed by IBC Solar on a 19-hectare clay pit in the Nordvorpommern district of Germany. The opening ceremony marking the beginning of work was attended by Federal Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel.
SunEdison has signed agreements with Huntington Beach for the installation of over 2MW of solar capacity at three Huntington Beach city properties. Work will begin on the three systems, which will be situated on carport canopies at the Huntington Beach Civic Center, Central Library and City Yard, in 2011. Once completed, the systems are expected to produce more than 63 million kWh of solar energy over 20 years.
Suntech and Calisolar have signed a letter of intent to construct a solar silicon manufacturing facility in Ontario, Canada, in order to significantly expand the existing manufacturing operations in Vaughan. The plant will add new operators and engineers, doubling total employment at Calisolar's wholly owned subsidiary, 6N Silicon, to more than 350.
Adding to over 200MW of orders already announced this month, JinkoSolar has signed a follow-up supply agreement with Enfinity Asia Pacific for the supply of 100MW of photovoltaic modules throughout 2011. The companies had already signed an agreement earlier in 2010 for the delivery of 24MW.
Upsolar has formed a partnership with Enphase Energy for the incorporation of Upsolar's current and future generation photovoltaic modules into Enphase junction boxes compatible with Enphase microinverters, resulting in the AC-enabled solar module product, ACE.
Etrion has now completed the previously announced definitive sale and purchase agreements to acquire the equity in the first two phases of the SunPower Montalto di Castro solar park, for approximately €49 million. The acquisition of the 20MW first phase of the project was completed in August and the acquisition of the 8MW second phase was completed at the very end of September.
Taiwan has reportedly increased its target for generating power from renewable sources after the new feed-in tariff law significantly increased the demand for emissions-free electricity on the island. The new installed power capacity target is set to reach 16% by 2025 in comparison to the previous 15.1% milestone.
Singulus Technologies has received an order from an unnamed client in Singapore, for its Timaris vacuum deposition system for data storage technology. This order is therefore added to the other two received in July this year, bringing the total order intake for the three machines to over €8 million.
Sharp Electronics has confirmed its supply agreement for the 58MW (DC) (45MW AC) Avenal photovoltaic solar power facility, located in Central California. Once complete, the three plant project will be the largest in the state, supplying renewable energy to PG&E under 20-year power purchase agreements approved by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).
LDK Solar has entered into a strategic financing agreement with China Development Bank (CDB) for the provision of up to RMB 60 billion (approximately US$8.9 billion) of credit facilities for LDK over a five-year period. Terms of the individual credit facilities and lending agreements will be subject to CDB's internal risk management requirements and operational regulations.
