Masdar PV has reportedly improved the efficiency of its amorphous silicon (a-Si) solar modules to 7.4%, achieving an increase of over 1% in the past six months. "We have achieved this substantial increase in the efficiency of our modules because we have consistently focused on optimizing the production line in line with market requirements from the very outset."
Sputnik Engineering has said that beginning in the fourth quarter of 2010, it will be supplying the UK with its Swiss solar inverters. This news comes after recent investor concern that the UK does not have access to sufficient supplies of high-quality inverters and modules.
Advanced Energy Industries has established its first grid connections located across several sites in Germany and the Czech Republic. The solar powered facilities feature the company's Solaron 500E grid-tied solar PV inverters, providing solar power to those located within the European regions.

Bosch Solar Energy has revealed that it will be showcasing its cell, module and installation concepts at the 25th EU PVSEC in Valencia. While demonstrating its recognized products during the four day event, Bosch will also present, for the first time, a new crystalline module consisting of 60 high-performance monocrystalline cells.

Mecasolar is on target to reach a total of 4,200 solar trackers installed in Italy by the end of 2010. These projects combine to reach an output of approximately 42MW, placing the Spanish company in a leading position in its sector in the Italian market.
India's new and renewable energy minister, Farooq Abdullah, has revealed that the government is targeting 1,000MW of solar power by 2013, 500MW of which will be solar photovoltaic and 500MW solar thermal. The first installation will begin in West Bengal, where a demo tidal wave power project of 100MW will be executed, shortly followed by switching 100 telecom towers from diesel to solar power for cooling, Abdullah said.
UK energy company Ecotricity has submitted a planning application for a 1MW power plant near Louth, UK. If the plans are accepted, this project, which will be located next to a 20-tubine wind farm, will be the largest of its kind in the country.
KACO new energy has revealed that it has delivered 2GW of PV inverters worldwide to date. This places the company as the world's second largest inverter manufacturer, behind SMA. KACO shipped over 650MW of PV inverters within the first six months of 2010, pushing the company's overall production of PV inverters to over 2GW of sold inverters worldwide.
