Product Briefing Outline: System Photonics has introduced a commercial-scale BIPV 'ROOF' collection system that is designed for ventilated façades. The product line uses ceramic materials combined with next-generation crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells to allow for flexibility in design without compromising functionality. These BIPV modules also take advantage of DuPont PV5300 Series encapsulant sheets made of clear, tough ionomer.

SunPower and SunLink have settled a patent infringement case brought by SunPower before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. SunPower called the lawsuit against SunLink back in February 2008 asserting infringement of SunPower's patent rights covering its lightweight rooftop mounting products, SunPower PowerGuard and the SunPower T10 Solar Roof Tile.

Virginia has announced that it will be implementing its first-ever renewable energy rebate program, supported by Standard Solar. This will provide homeowners and businesses in the Commonwealth with a possible US$2,000 per kW for PV systems up to 10kW. Standard Solar urges interested parties to apply quickly as there is a limit on available funds.

Solar and semiconductor wafer slurry reprocessing company, CRS Reprocessing Services (CRS) has named Scott T. Massie as CEO. Prior to this role, Massie was CEO of EPV Solar -- manufacturer of thin-film modules based in Robbinsville -- New Jersey.

Michigan Gov. Jennifer M. Granholm has announced that Georgia-based Suniva will invest US$250 million in a new solar manufacturing facility in Saginaw County's Thomas Township.  With this development, Suniva will create 500 new jobs over the next five years subject to receiving a Department of Energy (DOE) loan guarantee, which the company recently applied for.

IMEC and BP Solar have demonstrated 18% conversion efficiency for silicon solar cells developed using BP Solar's Mono2 silicon. IMEC's processing techniques and BP Solar's low-cost substrates make it possible to produce a solar cell that is both efficient and low in price.

In the move toward the widespread uptake of building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), Dow Chemical has unveiled the Dow Powerhouse solar shingle. The BIPV technology incorporates solar panel capability in the form of a building material.

Moving forward the development of the proposed 100MW JOAN1 concentrated solar thermal power (CSP) project, Ausra has been selected as the supplier of solar steam boilers. With this selection, the development of the plant in Ma'an, Jordan is going ahead as planned.

The long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) between APS and Starwood Energy Group has been terminated.  This ends plans for the Starwood Solar I plant, as the engineering, procurement and construction firm, Lockheed Martin, pulls out.

The OPDE Group, which includes the companies OPDE, MECASOLAR, PROINSO and RIOS, will sign an agreement with the regional government of Piedmont (Italy) on Friday 8th October for the construction of 17 solar facilities, generating together a total of 75MW.
