Thirty-one of Power-One’s Aurora PVI-12.5-Tl-FS inverters have been delivered for use at a new PV test facility at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in the Netherlands. The 400kW installation was provided by Solartechno, in cooperation with The Grounds, a platform for innovative applications for sustainable airports.

Canadian Solar advised that the sale of its Canadian Solar 1 installation has been completed with the utility-scale power plant sold to Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners for US$48.4 million. Canadian Solar was the developer, EPC and construction financier for the project, which is built near the town of Napanee. The installation is connected to the grid and uses nearly 50,000 of the company’s CS6M modules.

SolarWorld noted that its large-scale system business expansion has been successful thus far with the company pointing to 33MW of total power being connected to the grid in Germany during Q2 2012. The company connected five solar farms in commercial and industrial areas in the Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The farms will supply over 30 million kWh of power per year.

Canadian Solar and its French PV integrator partner Mecosun have achieved Pass’Innovation certification from the French Centre Scientifique et Technique du Batiment (CTSB).The testing confirms Canadian Solar’s PV panels integration with Mecosun’s MV€ system and aims to enable attainment of insurances and funding from French government authorities.

Upsolar announced that the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), in conjunction with ICIM, issued two new certifications for its 60-cell modules, which feature Schweizer Solrif (SOLar Roof Integration Frame) frames.

Daqo New Energy released its second quarter 2012 financial earnings, which saw the company post revenues of US$30.6 million, down from US$34 million in Q1 2012. Additionally, Daqo’s Q2 2012 polysilicon shipments were approximately 1,028MT, while its PV module shipments amounted to 3.6MW. Wafer shipments for the second quarter were 11.2MW.

Yingli Green Energy Holding’s advised that its multicrystalline PV modules had undergone, and successfully passed, potential induced degradation (PID) testing, which was conducted by Intertek Group. The test analysed the power output of Yingli Solar’s PV modules under sever conditions of high voltage, temperature and humidity.

Senersun advised that its polycrystalline modules had passed testing performed by SGS for compliance with IEC 61701 standards for salt mist corrosion. The solar panels underwent four test cycles spread over 28 days. Each module was sprayed with a salt mist solution and then stores for 7 days at 40° C and 93% relative humidity. Testing confirmed that the panels were visually, dimensionally and functionally compliant with the IEC standards.

Following its two requests for tenders (RFTs), the French government has selected bids for 541MW of solar plants, using various technologies, including, five projects from Element Power Solar, which total 18MW. Element Power’s projects include the 2.06MW Tournus installation, the 9.51MW site in Orain, Besset’s 2.16MW project, the 2.66MW installation in Soucia and Sydom’s 1.36MW installation.

Eltek announced that Underwriters Laboratories (UL) has given the company’s THEIA HE-t grid tie solar inverters the highest ratings in its product safety certification. The UL certification qualifies them for sale in the North American market, with Eltek advising that the product line is available immediately.
