Once Mossadiq Umedaly, the interim CEO of Enecsys, returns to his original role as executive chairman, Henrik Raunkjaer will step in as the new CEO and board member for the company. The changes will be effective starting November 1, 2010. Raunkjaer has over 24 years’ of experience in the electronics industry, has held several leadership positions in the solar business and earned a BS in electronic engineering.

AES Sole Italia revealed that it had selected Schneider Electric as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for a PV solar system in the Puglia region in Italy. The plant will have a yearly power output of 56GWh and a total power of 43MW during its peak. Over 600,000 solar panels on 250 acres will be used for the construction of the solar plant.

JA Solar Holdings has secured multiple supply agreements with several undisclosed customers, which will see the company delivering over 500MW of mono-crystalline and multi-crystalline solar cells throughout 2011. The signed contracts will see deliveries begin in January 2011, continue through December 2011 and have prepayments for next year’s committed solar cell deliveries. In addition, JA Solar released that its year-end capacity for 2010 will be 1.8GW with actual productive capacity at 1.4GW for the end of the second quarter.

Trina Solar has taken Despatch Industries over the edge and into their latest milestone – selling over 500 metallization firing furnaces in China. Trina placed a large order for Despatch’s unit to be used in its production expansion bring Despatch to claim 500 units have been sold in China.

Hans Willemsen will be officially inaugurated as the new CEO for Scheuten Solar on September 15, 2010, as he takes over for Frans van den Heuvel who previously held the position before stepping down. Willemsen oversaw Shell Solar from 2004 until 2007 and was recently active as VP for Shell Clean Coal Energy in Asia.

DCO Energy and Solectria Renewables will be teaming up for three PV systems in New Jersey with Solectria supplying commercial and utility-scale inverters for the three projects. This is not the first time the two companies have come together for a solar project. Earlier this year, Solectria provided 2MW of inverters to DCO for seven projects in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Martifer Solar is adding to its 7MW of constructed Italian solar parks it has built in the Basilicata, Sicilia and Apulia regions with a turnkey project in the Lombardy region of Italy. The project will consist of three ground-mounted PV solar plants, which at peak power will total 3MW.

Tempress Systems, the solar subsidiary of Amtech Systems, revealed that it has collected around US$37 million in new solar orders for its diffusion processing systems from new and existing Asia-based customers. Taking into account the most recent order, Amtech has so far received around US$157 million in orders for the 2010 fiscal year.
