Grupo T-Solar and Astonfield Renewable Resources have signed a long-term strategic partnership deal to develop solar PV power plants in India. Site construction is under way on the first project of the collaboration, a 5MW site in Osiyan, Rajasthan, India, which is expected to be commissioned by October.
Solar Power Partners and JCM Capital have signed a deal with Rumble Energy, to provide full development, construction, and long-term equity financing for a 6MW portfolio of commercial-scale rooftop installations located throughout Ontario. The agreement follows the SPP-JCM announcement in December 2010 on the launch of their Solar Fund to develop, finance, own, and operate 200MW of solar projects in Ontario.
Plans are in the works to develop and build a 20MW solar PV power plant on property surrounding the Maryland Correctional Institution outside of Hagerstown. The project would be the largest commercial solar facility in the state.
GT Solar has improved productivity on its latest-generation multicrystalline ingot growth system. The process on the DSS650, which produces ingots >625kg, has been enhanced by 44% over the earlier generation DSS450 tool, as a result of reduced cycle time, while maintaining high crystal quality and mass ingot yield, according to the company.
The board of Satcon Technology has named Aaron Gomolak to be its executive VP, CFO, and treasurer, replacing replacing Donald Peck. Gomolak joined the PV inverter and power conversion company in May 2008, most recently serving as the senior VP of global operations.
Bentek Solar has received ETL listing to UL 1741 and CSA 22.2 certification for its circuit breaker recombiners for commercial and utilty-scale PV solar power systems. Natcore Technology scientists working at Ohio State University have continued to make progress on the development of the company's liquid-phase deposition (LPD) process, demonstrating how it can be used to apply an antireflective coating to textured solar cells as well as standard planar cells. The company said this could help open the door for the industry to achieve even further wafer thickness reductions by eliminating the thermal vacuum AR coating process.
Sanyo Canada will supply the Westburne division of Rexel Canada Electrical with solar modules, which will be available at the distributor's locations across the country. The strategic partnership will help facilitate the supply of quality PV components to the growing number of electrical contractors in Canada operating in the solar field, according to the companies.
Innovalight has followed up the news about its sales partnership with Marubeni in Japan with another announcement about a similar arrangement with Grandway Wonice Technology in Taiwan. The latest deal calls for the Taiwanese trading firm to sell the San Jose-based company's nanosilicon ink and advanced process technology to solar PV cell and panel manufacturers on the island.
