Enel, through its local subsidiary Enel Green Power Panamá, announced Wednesday that its 42MW Sol Real PV project has commenced commercial operation.
The installation stands as Enel’s second PV installation developed in Panama — with the company now boasting 354MW of installed renewables within the country.

Enel invested approximately US$55 million in the construction of the Sol Real installation — which is comprised of five smaller PV plants. The 5MW Caldera Solar and 8MW Sol de David projects are located in Chiriquí on the western coast of Panama, while the 11MW Sol Real, 10MW Milton Solar and 8MW Vista Alegre sites were developed Coclé in central Panama.
The 42MW project will be able to produce nearly 70 GWh of electricity annually — equivalent to the yearly power consumption needs of around 33,000 homes while cutting the emission of around 60,000 tonnes of CO2 each year.
The energy generated by the project, which features 310,860 PV modules, will be purchased by EGPPA’s Fortuna hydro power plant.
