Metallisation paste producer Heraeus Photovoltaics claims that its SOL9621 Series paste has a world-record PERC efficiency of 21.7%.

The firm will present the silver paste in Taipei, Taiwan, in mid-October. As Taiwan represents 15% of the global supply of solar cells manufacturing, it is an important market for Heraeus, according to a company statement.

Heraeus is also introducing new products for the metallization of solar cells, including the SOL9621P, which is a front-side paste designed specifically for PERC application.

Heraeus will also introduce its customised paste SOL9350C for p+ surface contact, which has demonstrated 0.1% higher cell efficiency. It will also unveil the SOL9621L, which is specifically designed for n-type applications. Heraeus claims it requires a lower silver content and less paste usage, while maintaining its performance.

Andreas Liebheit, president of Heraeus Photovoltaics said: “We are very proud to offer world-record products. Heraeus' mission is to constantly improve PERC efficiency to allow cell manufacturers to grow at high rates.”

The company also recently opened a product development R&D centre in Taipei.

Weiming Zhang, senior vice president, R&D, Heraeus Photovoltaics, said: “We are looking forward to forming more partnerships with leading PERC cell manufacturers to customize our pastes to their specific cell designs. A stronger collaboration will allow us to maximize our customer's cell performance and improve their competitiveness.”
