A new report from IMS Research highlights that the PV inverter market has gone from chronic shortages to major overcapacity in the last 12 months. High levels of inventory were recorded in the fourth quarter of 2010 and into the New Year, according to the market research firm. Despite the overcapacity concerns, the global PV inverter market is forecast to reach US$8.5 billion by 2014.
Alternate Power International, in conjunction with Sustainable Energy Technologies, has announced a partnership between the two companies that will see API bundle Sunergy inverters with its Sun-Spy SST-10 solar tracker for the micro-FIT and FIT markets. Taking into account API’s forecasted 2011 demand, Sustainable Energy will produce up to 5MW of Sunergy inverters and offer its technical support in order for API to achieve the most advantageous tracker performance.
Zigor has agreed to work with Guascor Solar and supply inverters and cabinets for two of Guascor Solar’s Italian PV plants. The total power for the two fixed structures will stand at 10.5MW with Zigor delivering its Sunzet 125MV inverter, grouped in a 500kW configuration.
