Solar Power Partners and JCM Capital have signed a deal with Rumble Energy, to provide full development, construction, and long-term equity financing for a 6MW portfolio of commercial-scale rooftop installations located throughout Ontario. The agreement follows the SPP-JCM announcement in December 2010 on the launch of their Solar Fund to develop, finance, own, and operate 200MW of solar projects in Ontario.

Macy’s Goodyear, Arizona online fulfillment center is modeling a new 3.5MW rooftop solar power system. SunPower designed and installed the solar project, which features a SunPower T5 Solar Roof Tile system, and will continue to support the center with operations and maintenance services.

Lanco Infratech and juwi Holding have won a contract to build India’s largest solar system in the city of Dhule. The 75MW solar plant will cost INR8.84 billion (US$195 million) and be completed by February 2012. Equipment suppliers for the record-breaking project are still to be confirmed.

IKEA’s mission to minimize its impact on the global environment continues with the announcement of six more solar installations to take place on its locations in the Eastern US. Since the beginning of this year, the home design giant has completed a 498kW solar system at its Denver store and a 200kW installation at its Brooklyn facility, while also announcing plans for two solar systems to be installed at store locations in Germany.

Plans are in the works to develop and build a 20MW solar PV power plant on property surrounding the Maryland Correctional Institution outside of Hagerstown. The project would be the largest commercial solar facility in the state.

The Prime Minister of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, Germany was on site with IBC Solar to celebrate the groundbreaking of the company’s new Sukow Solar Park. Set to be built across 76.6-acres of the former Sukow landfill, the 11MWp solar installation is expected to be completed in August and use 48,000 PV modules to generate 10,500,000kWh of solar electricity every year.

The Qwest Field Event Center, home of the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks, is currently undergoing a “green transformation” with the installation of a rooftop solar PV system. Considered the largest rooftop solar array in Washington to date, the Qwest Field installation will have 3,750 CIGS solar panels manufactured by Solyndra producing over 830,000kWh of solar electricity per year and offset 21% of the Event Center’s annual utility costs.

Wattner has acquired a 9.2MW solar system, which will be constructed across five of Germany-based Opel’s rooftops. Wattner secured EWT SolServ for the construction and installation of the project, which will use nearly 40,000 solar modules and 500 inverters. The energy produced from the project will be fed directly into Opel’s corporate grid.

eIQ Energy’s has agreed to supply its Parallel Solar technology for a new 1.2MW solar installation at Granite Construction’s aggregate and hot mix facility in Coalinga, California. Building work on the project began earlier this month and grid connection is expected to be achieved later on this summer.

Constellation Energy will build, own and maintain a 5.38MW rooftop solar installation at Toys R Us’s distribution centre in Flanders, New Jersey. The system, said to be the largest of its kind in the US, will be connected to the grid this summer and all the electricity generated will be purchased by the toy store under a 20-year power purchase agreement.
