With Germany setting itself the ambitious goal of renewable energy making up 80% of its overall energy structure by the end of 2023, its government is encouraging the development of a plug-in PV system, also known as the ‘Balcony’ PV System.
The high level of investment required for installation of a residential rooftop system works against those living in apartments, so the German and Austrian governments have announced policies to promote the adoption of balcony systems, with the ultimate goal of achieving DIY installation.
