JinkoSolar has announced that it is to supply a total of 1.75GW of its N-type TOPCon Tiger Neo modules to two landmark PV projects in Saudi Arabia. The AHK2 (500MW) and MAS (1250MW) projects, developed under the Kingdom’s Fifth Round Renewable Energy Program by EDF Renewables and SPIC Huanghe Hydropower Development are jointly contracted with the PowerChina Guizhou Engineering Corporation.
Following last year’s 1.8GW PV3 Al Ajban project in Abu Dhabi, this is Jinko’s second major collaboration with EDF Renewables, the agreement reinforcing the company’s strong presence in the Middle East.
The AHK2 project is located southeast of Al Henakiyah in Medina Province, with the MAS project situated east of Dharghat in Ha’il Province. Both sites are typically desertification-prone regions, facing the constant challenges of high temperatures, drought and sandstorms. Multiple empirical studies have shown that the Tiger Neo modules’ high bifacial rate of up to 85% can alone increase a project’s total energy yield by approximately 3.38%, with even greater gains under higher ground reflectivity. Once operational, the two projects will not only supply clean electricity but also create microclimate benefits by lowering ground temperature and improving soil conditions, laying a foundation for vegetation recovery and desertification control.
