LONGi has announced the signing of a collaboration agreement involving knowledge transfer in the recycling of PV modules in Colombia with OCADE, a local company specializing in the management of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).
The agreement establishes a long-term cooperation between the two parties to develop activities related to the management and recycling processes for module components, with LONGi providing OCADE with information and training to optimize recycling processes of module components, enabling it to expand its current services in the environmentally sound management of decommissioned solar panels.
With the rapid growth of PV installations in Colombia and the region generally, effective management of photovoltaic waste has become a key requirement to mitigate environmental impact.
“At LONGi, sustainability is a fundamental pillar of our business vision. We are committed to supporting our customers in finding viable solutions for the end of life of their PV projects. This collaboration with OCADE reinforces our mission to ensure that solar energy is truly sustainable throughout its entire value chain,” commented Hugo Fernández, LONGi Country Manager for Colombia in the company’s utility business group.
