KosiFrankensolar builds 500kW rooftop plant in Turkey

A 500kW rooftop photovoltaic power plant has been built by Turkish-German company KosiFrankensolar on the roof of beverage producer Sural in Antalya, Turkey.

The plant became operational in mid-August. Kosi-Frankensolar collaborated with Turkish companies Inform Electronic and Dagsan Solon to construct the power plant.

Modules and inverters for the project, thought to be one of the largest of its kind in Turkey, were supplied by German parent company Fri-Frankensolar. The installation at Sural can generate around 800,000kWh per year, with panels under warranty for 25 years. Expected payback time is around five to six years.

KosiFrankensolar was formed by German company Frankensolar and Turkish firm Kosi Solar Energy Systems in order to focus on the Turkish market.

Engineering and mounting firm Dagsan have been in the solar power industry in one form or another since 1979. The company formed a partnership with German company Solon aimed at utilising Solon’s more advanced technology for Dagsan projects.

China Sunergy (CSUN) recently opened a module manufacturing facility in Turkey.
