Amid rumours that MEMC Electronic Materials’ chief executive officer, Ahmad Chatila, was to leave the company, MEMC has announced the appointment of Brian Wuebbels as its new CFO. He succeeds Mark Murphy, who resigned, effective May 16, 2012, in order to take up the role as president at Praxair Surface Technologies. Murphy will continue a temporary consulting role with MEMC to aid the transition process.

Prior to joining MEMC, Brian Wuebbels was vice president and CFO of Honeywell’s sensing and control business and he has been with MEMEC since 2007, acting as vice president for solar wafer manufacturing and most recently as vice president and general manager of BOS products.

“We are very grateful for Mark's contributions as CFO,” Chatila commented. “Mark has provided solid financial leadership and helped us navigate through very challenging times in the global semiconductor and solar industries. We wish him continued success in his new role at Praxair. Moving forward, Brian's long tenure with MEMC and his substantial financial and operational background made him an obvious choice to succeed Mark as CFO.  Brian is ideally suited for this position and this will be a smooth transition of responsibilities.”
