The German auction for solar installations on buildings and noise barriers once again ended up oversubscribed, this time by 1.2 times.

Germany has now installed more than 100GW of solar PV after adding 1.1GW in January 2025, according to monthly data from the German Federal Network Agency.

Auction prices awarded ranged from €0.0388/kWh to €0.0495/kWh, with an average volume-weighted price awarded at €0.0476/kWh.

The German Federal Network Agency's provisional figures for 2024 include the addition of 16.2GW of new solar capacity.

Unlike the price ceiling for wind, which has not changed compared to 2024, all three auctions involving solar PV have been revised down to take into account the decrease in the forecast levelised cost of electricity, said the Bundesnetzagentur.

Germany's rooftop solar tender ended up with a record 434MW of capacity bid, while France's was undersubscribed.

As has been the case in many of Germany’s recent solar PV auctions, the innovation tender ended up oversubscribed with 1.8GW of capacity.

The auction closed on 1st July almost twice oversubscribed after 4,206MW of applications were submitted for the 2,148MW of tendered capacity.

119 bids were successfully awarded contracts, for a total of 258.5MW capacity. Successful bids ranged between €0.0795/kWh and €0.1019/kWh, with a volume-weighted average price of €0.0894/kWh.

Balcony installations have been growing in Germany since the government streamlined the registration process in April.
