US community solar developer Nexamp has signed a 1.5GW module supply deal with Canadian PV manufacturer Heliene to deploy at its community solar sites over the next five years.
Canadian solar manufacturer Heliene has announced plans to build around 1GW of solar module assembly and 1.5GW of solar cell production capacity in the US.
The IRS’ guidance on the domestic content tax bonus for solar projects under the IRA “makes it difficult for developers to attempt to access the 10% bonus ITC”, according to Martin Pochtaruk, president of North American solar PV manufacturer Heliene.
Earlier this week (14 June), White House officials and solar manufacturers sat down with one another to discuss how the Biden Administration could kickstart PV manufacturing via its recently enacted Defense Production Act (DPA).
Canadian module manufacturer Heliene has seen unprecedented demand for its modules following the US Department of Commerce’s (DOC) decision to investigate alleged anti-dumping and circumvention (AD/CVD) by solar manufacturers in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia, which continues to spread chaos across the US solar sector.
After years of protracted legal disputes and millions in import duties, the Section 201 tariffs on Canadian solar product shipped to the US could end soon. PV Tech Premium spoke with Heliene about what it means for Canadian PV manufacturing.
Canada-headquartered solar manufacturer Heliene will supply up to 250MW of its modules to commercial and industrial (C&I) PV developer Altus Power as part of a new strategic partnership between the companies.
