SE Energy Investment Co, a UK subsidiary of Chinese equipment manufacturing conglomerate, Shanghai Electric Group, and solar developer Hive Energy have formed a joint venture to build and operate 50MW of solar PV in the Mariel Development Zone, Cuba.
Hive Energy has secured planning approval to develop what it claims to be Andalucia’s first subsidy free solar park in Espejo, Cordoba region, standing at 45.6MW.
Hive Energy is set to become the first British company to net a major PV project contract in Cuba. As part of the deal, Hive Energy will develop a 50MW installation — which will stand as the first utility-scale site to be developed in the country.
