JinkoSolar has published its financial results for the third quarter of the year, which include the shipments of over 23.8GW of modules.

Fierce competition and the emergence of technologies such as TOPCon have led to an uptick in the prevalence of patent infringement lawsuits between PV companies. Tom Kenning reports.

Filed in the US District Court for the District of Delaware, the lawsuit is in regard to two of Trina Solar's TOPCon patents.

Construction firm ARCO/Murray has been selected to lead the design and construction of Vietnamese solar manufacturer Boviet Solar’s 2GW TOPCon module assembly plant alongside the anticipated solar cell plant in North Carolina, US.

Carbon has emerged as a third actor in the ongoing patent dispute between rival Chinese manufacturers JA Solar and Astronergy.

They relate to the tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon)solar cells used in Runergy and Adani’s products sold in the US and the manufacturing processes for those cells.

As of H1 2024 India has reached an annual nameplate capacity of 77.2GW for modules and 7.6GW for solar cells, according to Mercom India.

The partnership aims to boost the sale of solar cell equipment in India amidst a growth in capacity announcements.

Once complete, the project is intended to produce 5GW of tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) cells and 3GW of modules.

Trina Solar has filed a patent infringement complaint with the US ITC regarding TOPCon products sold by Runergy and Adani Green Energy.
